Monkirigata is a form of traditional paper-cutting art that originated from the intricate skills of Monaco-uwaeshi. This was devised by the people of Edo, and involves folding a piece of paper a certain way. As you cut the paper following the prepared patterns using scissors or a utility knife, a beautiful Mon will be magically created. Kyogen has designed kits that include Origami paper made of Washi(traditional Japanese paper) and our original patterns. The blue kit can be completed with the use of scissors only, and the red one requires the use of a utility knife as well. In addition, we regularly hold workshops for people of all ages and skill levels.
