Kyogen had the privilege to design the crests for the large Noren curtains hanging in the shopping complex, “COREDO Muromachi” in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. In the Edo period, Nihonbashi was the starting point of The Five Routes that connected Edo with other provinces. To honor this history, all of the crests were designed based on the essence of “five.” On the left page is Muromachi Terrace with the theme “gather.” With the motif of a pentagonal Masu (a square wooden vessel for sake), this crest expresses “lifelong prosperity with ever-increasing customers.” On the top right-hand corner shows COREDO Muromachi 1 themed “prosperity.” The crest is a blissful Noshi design that is typically used for celebrations and it demonstrates the three Routes towards west and the two Routes towards north, depicting the previously mentioned The Five Routes. At the bottom right, COREDO Muromachi 2 was built with the concept of “joy.” The crest for this facility is Gomasu (five pieces of Masu), based on Mimasu (three pieces of Masu), the Kamon of the Ichikawa Kabuki family.
